Words per minute

The conventional word is five characters, including spaces. WPM equals correct final characters divided by five and then divided by active minutes.

Raw speed and corrections

Raw WPM uses all key attempts. Net WPM uses characters that remain correct at the end. Corrections are reported separately so a natural correction strategy is visible.

Accuracy and consistency

Accuracy is correct key attempts divided by all key attempts. Consistency is derived from the variation in valid intervals between recent keystrokes; a steadier cadence receives a higher score.

Latency, pairs, and fatigue

Median latency estimates the typical transition between keys. Pair analysis groups transitions by expected character sequence. For longer sessions, fatigue compares early and late pace.

KPH for structured entry

Keystrokes per hour scales total key activity to one hour. Net KPH uses correct final characters and is more useful than raw KPH when errors matter.
